KG is the MVP. End of subject. C’mon, have you forgotten 20 something wins so quickly? Do you miss wondering if Gerald was going to come around ? That was just 11 months ago.
They’re about to win 60 something games. Last year people felt sorry for the C’s, now they’re afraid of them. Sure Paul Pierce is having his best year and Ray is an assassin and Rondo’s a talent and Perk and Powe are all one could hope them to be. But without KG they’re fighting for first round home court advantage. KG raised the first time he sat down at the table. He makes everybody around him work harder - get better. That’s what MVP’s do. Kobe, Lebron, CP3 all great players, maybe even better than KG. But more valuable, no way, not even close.

It’s really tough to disagree with you Mike, but I think something has to be said for Paul Pierce as well. I mean at the draft lottery I was all about trading Paul, but now I see that he is willing to give the team whatever they think they need from him in order to win. I love the way he is playing this year and he is willing to do what ever it takes for the C’s to get a win. Often times when the C’s offense is getting stagnant Paul can be counted on to drive the lane and help create for himself and others. I wish KG, Allen and Paul could share the honors, but I also think the defensive intensity that KG brings to the table every night is what puts him over Pierce and Allen. That and some of the shots he was hitting in that Suns game were absolutely incredible. Who else could hold Amare Stouddomire to 10 points in a half? Celtics are phenomenal, lets hope for 70 wins this season! Great job Mike and Tommy we love you!!!!

You’re selling Paul Pierce short Mike. KG wasn’t able to will his teammates to victory in Minnesota. Don’t forget we saw how valuable Pierce was last year when the Celtics were an infintely better team with Pierce on the floor. He’s also been a lock down defender this season. I don’t agree that a team with Al Jefferson, Pierce, Ray Allen, Rondo, and Perk would be fighting for homecourt advantage in the east. Also I think this team would quickly lose its dominance without P Squared, whereas Paul was able to carry this team to victories over the Spurs and Mavs without KG. It’s certainly not an open and shut case that KG is the MVP of his own team and I wouldn’t make the argument that he’s the MVP of the league.

neither pierce nor garnett deserve MVP. if you want to make the excuse that “valuable” isn’t about numbers(because in that case Kobe and LeBron are hands down simply better), then you need to take into consideration Chris Paul. How has he been any less “valuable” to the success of his team? And frankly he isn’t surrounded with nearly as much talent as the c’s and so he should be considered even MORE valuable to the Hornets than Garnett to the Celtics.
KG has contributed to a whole new culture around the Celtics and he deserves all the props in the world for that. No one would dispute that he’s having a great year nor his passion and dedication to this team - but he is not the MOST valuable player in the NBA.
I have a feeling that Mr. Gorman’s enthusiasm for the Celtics has clouded his judgment here. I bet if he was a lifelong Cavs fan he’d be arguing for LeBron.
That said, I wouldn’t be upset if KG received MVP; but frankly the most valuable aspect of KG’s game is the fact that he wouldn’t want to be named MVP because it would detract from the team mentality…and that’s why we love him.
