Jim Aberdale landed a 10 interview with David Ortiz.

Gary did the one on one.

To the best of our knowledge, Big Papi hasn’t talked with anyone since arriving on Wednesday and after the interview, he promptly walked past the media throng into the clubhouse.

If you consider this post chest thumping, you would be correct.

Last day at the park for Beach Postings and we caught up with RedSox.com and MLB.com writer Ian Browne to talk about his new book - Dice-K: The First Season of the Red Sox $100 man.

Dice-K, published in the US by Lyons Press, comes out March 19 and can be preordered at Amazon.

Browne, who has been covering the Sox since 2002, chronicles the signing of the Japenese import and his first season in the bigs.

According to Browne, a Cohasset native, Manager Terry Francona writes the forward and pitching coach John Farrell provides a lot of insight.

It’s middle infielder night on Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight as Julio Lugo, instead of Jon Lester, joins Dustin Pedroia tonight at 6:30.

Julian Tavarez is still on deck for 10 pm.

    Stephen Dunn/Getty ImagesManny Ramirez.

    The man…
    The myth…
    The legend…

Just the name alone, makes me smile… I don’t know why, but it just does. The perennial All-Star showed up at camp this week and he actually did so on time. It marked the first time since 2005 that the quirky left fielder reported by the scheduled reporting date. As it seems virtually every year, the much debated status of Ramirez’s contract should be an on-going theme now until the completion of the Sox 2008 season. Unless of the course, the Sox decide to go-ahead and pick up the 35-year old’s option before the season ends. However, that situation remains about as unlikely as Mike Huckabee winning the Republican nomination. All indications point towards the club waiting until the final pitch of the Sox season is thrown before a decision is made.

Getty ImagesAs I was surfing the Internet today, I came across ESPN’s Eric Neel’s preseason MLB power rankings. I then looked around to see if this was a joke, It wasn’t. In this article he has a blurb on each team in the rankings, I’ll just list a few teams until we get to the Red Sox. It shouldn’t take me to long as the Sox are the defending champs and pretty much have the same team returning. OK here we go.

His #1 team is  The Philadelphia Phillies

    2. New York Mets

    3. Chicago White Sox

    4. Detroit Tigers

    5. Minnesota Twins
???? This is the team that just traded the best pitcher in baseball.

    6. New York Yankees

    Next up, Your Bos……oh wait

    7. Colorado Rockies
The team we swept in the World Series

    8. San Diego Padres

OK, Here they come……oops not yet

    9. Texas Rangers

He likes Nolan Ryan…..good reason Eric

    10. Cincinnati Reds

    11. Kansas City Royals

Yes, that just said the Royals are higher than us!

    12. Florida Marlins

    13. Arizona Diamondbacks

    14. St. Louis Cardinals

    Ping pong is on…

Matchup No. 1. Lowell vs. Pedroia. This is the first matchup of the season.

Early on Lowell has the 6-4 advantage. Midgame they trade some forehand smashes.

The match goes all the way to 17 all. Lowell is the winner 21-17. Pedroia is not sure about the score. He asks to check the video tape. Request is denied.

Youkilis is now matched up against Lowell. During the Pedroia-Youkilis matchup, Youk shaved the foam off the paddle. Does he have advantage over Lowell?

The answer is no. Lowell wins 21-15.

    Youk blames the humidity.

    Next match - a Lowell-Pedroia rematch.

Early on it is Lowell 7-5.  In the end, Lowell wins again and moves to 3-0.

Position players report today and the action on the field is limited.

From a production perspective it could not be busier.

The crew is working on a Theo Epstein one on one, shooting a stand up for a Beckett interview that was taped yesterday; and an interview with Manny Ramirez.

For tonight’s shows, Aberdale says we will use all this plus have live visits from Pedroia and Jon Lester at 6:30 and Julian Tavarez at 10.

It’s not beneath Beach Postings to do a little self promotion, so let’s do so.

Our moles tell us that earlier in the week a Sox fan went up to a NESN on air guy to ask him where Comcast SportsNet was doing its show.

The NESN guy was taken aback. You see the fan prefaced his question by saying, “I know you work at NESN but can you tell me where…”

The on air guy’s response, “I don’t know, the beach”
